거짓말쟁이 양치기 소년

 

양치기 소년은 하루 종일 양을 돌보는 일을 했어요.

 

"아이 심심해. 재미있는 일이 없을까?"

 

양치기 소년은 마을 사람들에게 장난을 치기로 했어요.

 

"늑대다! 늑대가 나타났어요!"

 

마을 사람들은 깜짝 놀라 삽과 괭이를 들고 달려왔어요. 하지만 늑대는 아무 곳에도 없었어요.

두리번거리며 늑대를 찾는 마을 사람들을 보고 양치기 소년은 배를 잡고 깔깔 웃었어요.

 

"늑대는 없어요. 그냥 심심해서 장난 좀 친 거예요."

 

마을 사람들은 화가 났지만, 다시 마을로 돌아갔어요.

 

다음날도 양치기 소년은 심심해지자 마을을 향해 소리쳤어요.

 

"늑대가 나타났어요! 무서운 늑대가 나타났어요!"

 

이번에도 마을 사람들은 십과 괭이를 들고 달려왔어요. 하지만 늑대는 보이지 않았어요.

 

"늑대는 없어요. 이번에도 거짓말이에요."

"자꾸 거짓말을 하다니! 다시는 속지 않을 테다!"

 

마을 사람들은 양치기 소년을 꾸짖고 다시 마을로 내려갔어요.

 

며칠 뒤 진짜 늑대가 나타났어요. 배고픈 늑대는 양들을 잡아먹기 시작했어요. 양치기 소년은 마을을 향해 크게 소리쳤어요.

 

“늑대가 나타났어요! 이번에는 진짜 늑대가 나타났어요!”

 

하지만 마을 사람들은 더 이상 속지 않았어요.

 

“이번에도 또 거짓말을 하다니! 보나마나 거짓말일 텐데

우리는 하던 일이나 계속합시다.”

 

양치기 소년은 무서워서 계속 소리쳤지만 아무도 양치기 소년을 도와주러 오지 않았어요. 결국 늑대는 양들을 모두 잡아먹고 말았답니다.

 

The Boy who cried Wolf

 

There was a young shepherd boy who tended his sheep all day.

 

"I am so bored. Is there anything interesting?"

 

He decided to play tricks to the people in the village. He rushed down towards the village calling out.

 

"Wolf! Wolf!"

 

The villagers were so surprised that they came out with shovels and hoes. But there was no wolf. When the boy saw the villagers who looked around to find the wolf, he laughed loudly.

 

"No wolf, I was just playing on you because I got bored."

 

The villagers got angry at him but they just went back home. The next day, when the shepherd boy got bored again, he yelled at the village.

 

"There's a wolf. There's a scary wolf!"

 

Again, the villagers came out with shovels and hoes. But they didn't see the wolf. There was no wolf. He lied to them again.

 

"You keep lying to us."

 

The villagers scolded the shepherd boy and went back down to the village.

 

A few days later, a real wolf appeared. The hungry wolf started eating the sheep.

The shepherd boy shouted loudly at the village.

 

"There's a wolf, there's a real wolf!"

 

But the villagers didn't believe him,

 

"It's a lie again. Let's keep doing what we're doing."

 

The shepherd boy kept screaming because he was scared, but no one came to help the shepherd boy. Finally, the wolf ate all the sheep.
